Oomi Privacy Policy

Oomi is a children's educational game designed for children ages 3–8. We take your child's privacy seriously and are committed to complying with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and applicable international privacy regulations.

Information We Collect

We do not collect any personal information from children.

All game data — including progress, scores, difficulty levels, session history, and settings — is stored exclusively on your device using local storage. No game data is transmitted to any server, third party, or external service.

Data Storage

  • All data is stored locally on your device only.
  • No cloud sync, no accounts, no registration required.
  • Data persists between app sessions via on-device storage.
  • Parents can reset all data at any time from the Settings screen.

Network Communications

Oomi connects to the internet solely to check for app updates via Expo's update service. During these checks:

  • Your device's IP address and standard HTTP headers (including device model, OS version, and app version) are transmitted to Expo's servers.
  • This information is used only to deliver the correct app update — it is not used for tracking, profiling, or advertising.
  • No user-generated data, gameplay data, or personal information is transmitted.

No other network communications occur. The app functions fully offline.

Third-Party Services

  • No advertising — Oomi contains no ads of any kind.
  • No analytics — We do not use any analytics or tracking services.
  • No social features — There are no chat, messaging, or social media integrations.
  • No external links — The app does not link to websites, app stores, or external content.
  • No third-party SDKs that collect data are included in this app.

Parental Controls

Oomi includes the following parent/guardian controls, accessible behind a parent gate (a math problem young children cannot solve):

  • Daily time limit — Set a daily play time limit (10–60 minutes).
  • Language settings — Choose which languages appear in language-learning games.
  • Progress reset — Reset progress per game, per category, or for the entire app.
  • Session history — View what games were played and when.

Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)

In compliance with COPPA:

  • We do not collect personal information from children under 13.
  • We do not require registration, accounts, or any identifying information.
  • We do not use cookies, device identifiers, or tracking technologies for profiling.
  • We do not share any data with third parties.
  • All gameplay data remains on the device and under parental control.

Data Retention and Deletion

  • All data is stored on your device only.
  • Uninstalling the app permanently deletes all data.
  • Parents can delete all data at any time using the "Reset Progress" option in Settings.
  • Session history is automatically pruned after 90 days.

International Compliance

Beyond COPPA, Oomi is built to align with the children's-privacy regimes of the markets we ship in:

  • European Economic Area (GDPR-K): We comply with Article 8 of the General Data Protection Regulation regarding conditions applicable to a child's consent in relation to information society services. Because Oomi collects no personal data and stores everything on-device, no consent processing is required.
  • United Kingdom: We follow the Information Commissioner's Office Age-Appropriate Design Code (the "Children's Code"). On-device-only storage and zero third-party sharing satisfy the Code's data-minimisation and best-interests-of-the-child standards.
  • Japan (APPI): We acknowledge the Act on Protection of Personal Information. As Oomi processes no personal information as defined under the APPI, no cross-border transfer or consent provisions apply.
  • Canada (PIPEDA): The Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act applies to commercial collection of personal information; Oomi collects none.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above will always reflect the latest revision.

For material changes that affect children's privacy — for example, any change that would expand what data the app collects or how it's used — we will provide prominent notice inside the app, behind the parent gate, before those changes take effect. Parents will have the opportunity to review the new policy and stop using the app before any new practice begins.

Continued use of the app after non-material changes (clarifications, contact-info updates, legal references) constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
